Happy November! (Can you believe it??) Thank you to all of our parent volunteers, as well as Melisa Andrews (our Room Mom), for planning the BEST Halloween celebration last week!! We had a wonderful afternoon!
HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK 💡
MATH:
Last week in math we began Chapter 3: Multiplying and Dividing Fractions. Students learned how to multiply fractions and whole numbers, as well as proper fractions.
READING WORKSHOP:
Our readers were super busy last week during our guided reading groups and Because of Mr. Terupt novel study. We continued engaging with texts during our small groups, and students worked diligently asking and answering questions, making inferences., and analyzing character and plot development with our novel study.
WRITERS' WORKSHOP:
Last week our writers continued to explore personal narratives. We examined examples of narratives that focused on valuable lessons learned in life, and practiced incorporating sensory details into our own narratives to engage readers.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
We began to explore the impact of slavery in the Americas last week in social studies. Students examined life in West Africa in the 1500s, and learned about the enslavement and trade of people.
THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS 📌
MATH:
We will continue moving through Chapter 3 with a continued focus on multiplying fractions.
READING WORKSHOP:
Our small groups, along with our Because of Mr. Terupt novel study, will continue this week.
WRITERS' WORKSHOP:
Personal narratives will continue this week. Students will explore writing ideas based on lessons they've learned.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
We will continue learning about slavery in the Americas.
