It's hard to believe that October is already halfway over! Just a reminder...if you haven't already done so, please fill out the October Conference Survey I sent last week. I am looking forward to meeting with you at the end of next week!
HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK:
MATH:
Last week in math we finished up Chapter 2. Students completed the Chapter Assessment and completed corrections. We spent Friday doing some work outside of the Math In Focus curriculum on divisibility rules.
READING WORKSHOP:
We had another super busy week in reading workshop! Our comprehension topics included finding the main idea and theme of a text, comparing themes between two texts, comparing text structures of fiction, and analyzing characters.
WRITERS' WORKSHOP:
What a great writers' workshop we had last week! Students finished their story publications and participated in a Gallery Walk to view and give feedback to their peers on their stories!
SOCIAL STUDIES:
Sadly, our American Revolution study is coming to an end. Students compared and contrasted the British and Continental Armies, examined the Americans' push for independence and assistance from allies, and uncovered the details of the Treaty of Paris.
