HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK 💡
Math:
Last week in math we wrapped up Chapter 4. Students practiced dividing fractions and continued to solve real world fraction multiplication and division problems. We reviewed the major concepts from the chapter on Thursday, and students took their final assessment on Friday. We still have a few problems left to complete this week.
READING WORKSHOP:
Our literacy time last week continued to focus on The Liberation of Gabriel King. Students examined the vocabulary terms perseverance and oppression, and used text support to predict whether Mr. Evans said something kind or hurtful to Frita.
WRITERS' WORKSHOP:
Our Fiction writing unit continued last week! Students reviewed character, setting, and plot and practiced incorporating these components into their fiction drafts.
SOCIAL SCIENCE:
Life during the American Revolution continued last week in fifth grade! Students examined how key events such as the Boston Tea Party and Intolerable Acts affected the colonists and increased tension between England and the Colonies. We were also super fortunate to participate in a virtual field trip last week. Our colonists traveled back in time to attend the Boston Massacre Trial!! After hearing testimony from several key witnesses, our jury members found the British Soldiers Guilty! What a fun way to bring history to life for our young learners!
THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

We will complete our Chapter 4 test, and begin Chapter 5: Algebra.
